10 Hobbies to Keep Your Mind Enagedd

  • March 2024

Hobbies are not just good for your mental well-being, stress reduction, and social connection. They are good for your relationships too! Each time we engage or over engage with social media, TV and electronics we are negating other real-life connection that we have the opportunity for.

Before we get into the hobby ideas (which by the way you may have done before and this is just your reminder to pick it up!), here are some awesome benefits.

  1. Stress Reduction: Engaging in hobbies provides a healthy outlet for stress relief. Switching the focus and concentration from digital stimulation and putting the focus on activities promoting relaxation and mental well-being.
  2. Improved Mental Health: Hobbies offer a break from the pressures of everyday life, reducing the risk of burnout, anxiety, and depression. These breaks improve mental state and give space for positive emotions.
  3. Enhanced Creativity: Pursuing hobbies encourages creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Whether it's painting, writing, or cooking, engaging in creative endeavors stimulates the brain and cultivates innovation, which can be beneficial in both personal and professional life.
  4. Increased Productivity: Contrary to the belief that hobbies are time-wasters, they can actually improve productivity. Taking breaks to indulge in hobbies allows millennials to recharge their energy levels and return to tasks with a fresh perspective, leading to greater efficiency and effectiveness in their endeavors.
  5. Social Connection: Hobbies provide opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals outside the realm of social media. Whether it's joining a sports team, attending a book club, or participating in community events, hobbies facilitate meaningful social interactions and the development of supportive relationships, which are essential for overall happiness and well-being.

AS PROMISED - HERE ARE 10 HOBBIES BELOW!

So many to choose from, keep in mind some may feel like a ‘chore’ at first. But fear not, skills improve and the brain challenge offers its own benefits!

  1. Cooking or Baking: Experiment with new recipes, learn cooking techniques, or try your hand at baking bread or pastries. It's not only a relaxing activity but also a practical skill.
  2. Reading: Dive into a good book, whether fiction or non-fiction, and let yourself get lost in another world or learn something new.
  3. Outdoor Activities: Take up hiking, biking, gardening, or birdwatching. Spending time outdoors can be rejuvenating and provide a break from the digital world.
  4. Art and Crafts: Try your hand at painting, drawing, knitting, or crafting. Engaging in creative activities can be therapeutic and fulfilling.
  5. Yoga or Meditation: Practice yoga for physical and mental well-being, or incorporate meditation into your daily routine to reduce stress and increase mindfulness.
  6. Volunteering: Dedicate some time to volunteering for a cause you're passionate about. It's a meaningful way to give back to your community and make a positive impact.
  7. Learning a Musical Instrument: Pick up a musical instrument like the guitar, piano, or ukulele. Learning to play music can be both rewarding and enjoyable.
  8. DIY Home Projects: Tackle DIY home improvement projects or crafts. Not only will you learn new skills, but you'll also beautify your living space.
  9. Fitness and Exercise: Explore different forms of exercise such as running, swimming, or joining a fitness class. Staying active is essential for physical and mental health.
  10. Journaling or Creative Writing: Start a journal to document your thoughts and experiences, or try your hand at creative writing by writing short stories or poetry. It's a therapeutic way to express yourself and reflect on life.

These hobbies offer a variety of ways to relax, learn, and engage with the world without relying on screens or social media.

SEASONS IN RELATIONSHIPS

  • February 2024

Recently, we had the opportunity to participate in an insightful mini-workshop where we delved into the captivating concept of the seasons of relationships. This webinar was a reunion of sorts from the advanced workshop retreat in Cabo San Lucas, November 2023.

Here are three insights from the discussion we hope you enjoy!

Diverse Temperatures: Just like the weather, relationships experience different temperatures. Sometimes it's warm and comfortable, while at other times, it might feel a bit chilly. Recognizing these shifts allows us to adapt, communicate, and appreciate the ebb and flow of emotions within our relationships. Embracing both the warmth and the chill creates resilience and strength.

Colorful Surroundings: There is a spectrum of colors. There are vibrant, joyous moments like the blossoms of spring, and there are the deep, introspective shades like an fall sunset. Understanding the diverse hues in our relationships encourages us to appreciate the richness they bring, while also seeing that dull, does not mean bad.

Dynamic Activities: Our relationships are marked by a variety of activities. From adventurous escapades to cozy nights in, the activities we engage in shape the narrative of our story. Acknowledging the significance of shared experiences allows us to cherish the memories and navigate the changing dynamics of our relationships with grace.

The knowingness of a beginning and end in both seasons and relationships offers a valuable perspective. Seasons, whether challenging or blissful, are temporary.

Similarly, relationships go through phases, and each phase is an opportunity for growth, reflection, and renewal. They will go as they go…

We encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the current season of your relationships. What activities define it? What colors and temperatures do you perceive? Recognizing the season you're in provides a deeper understanding and allows you to navigate challenges and celebrate joys with mindfulness.

If you find yourself in a season that feels challenging, it's just for a moment. Seasons change, and so do the dynamics of our relationships.

An Update - Happy New Year!

  • January 2024

Each year we decide to venture off, set some intentions and make the choice to elevate in certain areas both personally, within our relationship, and professionally. This year there were some ends being tied up, some expansions and new adventures beginning!

In 2023 we focused our energy into health and relationship coaching. We had three wonderful workshops, and obtained the ownership of Relationship By Design. We are excited to further the mission and framework via coaching, workshops and retreats. The gravity, and history of this amazing community, contribution and relationship transformations is not lost on us. We are looking forward to continuing this work, welcoming new graduates and continuing to help people discover the extraordinary relationships possible for them.

As we come into 2024 and conclude this transfer process, we welcome you to share the new website and would love for you to get into communication with us if you would like to attend a 2024 event or explore what it may be like to lead a Relationship By Design workshop.

Just before we rang in the New Year, Zach started a new job. While still being in the sales management space, he has departed from the software space. He is now working more closely with other business owners, and his favorite, helping his team become successful in their relationship and communication skills within the workplace and with clients. You can bet he leads dynamic training and that his team has a special twinkle in regards to the relationships they are creating.

Sierra has added new services to her health coaching business including personal training and endurance training. Her focus remains in the healthy lifestyle space with the focus being healthy habits and sustainability - adding services, certifications and rebranding have been the big project and decision at hand. This decision has created more work, in a good way, keeping her busy as she sets up systems for that, Be Intact, and Relationship By Design.

These big adventures and changes have taken much of our attention and time over January. We are so grateful for the work we do with singles and couples. Having the insight of Relationship By Design has created a great foundation for ‘busy’ seasons like these.

We hope you have had a great welcome into the New Year and invite you to look at the new workshop dates to share with a loved one, review yourself, or put your suggestion in the hat for retreat locations.
